South of Sicily
Southern Sicily runs along a splendid coast with fascinating architectural sites, golden sandy beaches and white cliffs overlooking turquoise waters. The area boasts a variety of beautiful landscapes such as La Scala dei Turchi, just a few kilometres from Agrigento, with its natural limestone staircase wrought by the sea and the wind. Our villas and holiday homes in southern Sicily are ideal for those who want to discover the beauty of this part of the island such as the reserves of Torre Salsa and the river Belice estuary with their enchanting beaches and soft golden sand dunes. The tourist towns of Licata, Ribera, Menfi and Sciacca are also south Sicily’s main tourist destinations. Sciacca, known in Roman times as Thermae Selinuntinae is Sicily’s most ancient spa. Heraclea Minoa in the Selinunte area was also a Greek colony and its remains can still be seen from the promontory of Capo Bianco, at the foot of which are a wonderful beach and the river Platani reserve. In Agrigento the majestic ancient Greek temples in the Valley of the Temples are an absolute must for anyone visiting southern Sicily.
