The Stagnone lagoon, the top spot for kitesurfing in Sicily

Right in Sicily, there is one of the best places for kitesurfing in Italy and in the world: the Stagnone nature reserve, known as “Lo Stagnone”. Stage of the Kitesurf Freestyle World Championship in 2013, the Stagnone lagoon – the largest one in Sicily – is a natural paradise that extends for over 2000 hectares just outside Marsala. Its shallow waters make this lagoon the perfect spot for beginners and professionals, who can enjoy over 300 days of wind a year. 

The salt pans and the ancient town of Marsala, called by Cicero “Beautiful, but windy”, offers its visitors natural wonders and architectural beauties, which are well worth a visit. 

Where to stay near the Stagnone Lagoon
