One side faces the Mount Etna and the other one faces the sea Jonio’s blue waters. Linguaglossa, a characteristic Etnean town, is the ideal place for a stay both in the mountains and at the beach. Here all is surrounded by a unique environment of extreme beauty that has no equal in the heart of the Mediterranean. The town is on the north-east slope of the most charming volcano of Europe, the Mount Etna (3340 m), and belongs to its National Park. It is a sheer paradise for those who love walking and trekking, and for families and children, that can apply to Linguaglossa’s “Centro Visita Parco” (at the Pro Loco) to obtain further, full information and to arrange guided excursions on the volcano. Among the many paths which lead to primordial scenarios, stand out the ancient Ragabo pine forest, the craters and the Mount Nero. However Linguaglossa is also a renowned winter resort, where one can do cross-country, downhill skis and ski touring. It is only necessary to get to the close Piano Provenzana (1860-2400 m) to feel the thrill of sliding on the Etna’s ski slopes, whereas on the background stand out the silhouette of Taormina and further on the one of the Calabria. It is this wonderful mixture of ice, fire and water that attracts tourists from all over the world and offers an incomparable chromatic contrast. Linguaglossa has also several, old, baroque palaces and churches, overlooking the typical roads paved with lava rocks, and is also an ideal starting point to discover other beautiful towns, like Zafferana, Pedara and Trecastagni.
